The verdict of Mikhail Kosenko continues the tradition of punitive psychiatry
On October 3, Amnesty International recognized Mikhail Kosenko as a prisoner of conscience. Five days later, the judge of the Zamoskvoretsky court Lyudmila Moskalenko found Kosenko guilty and sent for forced treatment. Such a sentence became possible thanks to the conclusion of the commission of the forensic psychiatric experts of the State Scientific Center of Social and Forensic Psychiatry named after V.P. Serbian on July 24, 2012.
Here are the surnames of experts. Remember them:
SKOLKOVA S.N., 32 years old, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor; Ushakova I.M., 25 years of experience, psychiatrist, forensic psychiatric expert, candidate of medical sciences; Tsvetaeva M.A., 8 years of experience, psychiatrist, forensic psychiatric expert.

Forensic medical examination
These psychiatrists continued the traditions of punitive psychiatry, which was used to persecute dissenters in Soviet times.
Here is what Mikhail Kosenko himself talked about how he was examined in the scientific center. Serbian: “Some woman asked what my symptoms are. I refused to answer. She said that if I do not speak, then they recognize me as insane. When I began to tell, this woman stated that I was inclined to dissimural (conscious concealment, for example, signs of the disease. - The New Times). ”
Psychiatrist Yuri Savenko, the head of the independent psychiatric association of Russia, explained that experts from the Serbian Institute deliberately weighted Mikhail Kosenko on the basis of short communication with him, the so -called “five -minute”. Why did they do it? It is known that the Serbian Institute is closely cooperating with the investigation. And when Kosenko’s lawyers asked the court to appoint a repeated forensic psychiatric examination, they were refused this. Professor Savenko was surprised that, having taken his conclusion, experts from the Serbian Institute did not pay attention to the fact that Mikhail had been observed with a psychiatrist in the dispensary for 12 years and this doctor did not believe that the patient needed state and pose a danger to society.
The lawyer of Mikhail Dmitry Aivazyan said that often experts who sign the conclusion “wave it”, without even talking with the patient.
In the coming days, Mikhail Kosenko will file an appeal to the Moscow City Court, and if he confirms the verdict of the Zamoskvoretsky court, then Kosenko will be sent for treatment to a general prison hospital of a general type. Horrors tell about such hospitals, they say that there patients are deprived of haloperidol prohibited in many countries. How Kosenko will be treated in this hospital for certain. Public observers who visit prisons are not allowed there. It is known from human rights activists that now in the psychiatric department of the Butyrka pre -trial detention center, Mikhail Haloperidol is not treated, they give him neuroleptics and normalics. He is regularly visited by members of the Moscow PPC, and when he was taken to court, his sister talked with him, and if he was given strong medicines, sister and lawyers would pay attention to this. But one must understand: Kosenko will be in a greater isolation on the forced treatment than in a pre -trial detention center, and only a sister can visit him.
The chairman of the independent Psychiatric Association, Yuri Savenko, promises to control the treatment of Kosenko in this hospital, and very much hopes that in a year psychiatrists can revise the decision of experts from the Serbian Institute and write Mikhail home.
The hope is very fragile.
In any case, the recognition of Kosenko is insane - in itself a terrible signal to society.
The signal is sinister.
Everyone who read the last word of Mikhail Kosenko shocked that this man, who was recognized as insane, is so accurately and clearly expresses his thoughts.
- You yourself wrote this text? I asked Michael when I met him on the eve of the sentence. “Yes, of course, himself,” Mikhail was surprised. - And who else? - Write, you do it well, describe everything that happens to you.
Michael promised.
