"Agora" filed a complaint about the detention of Gaskarov in the ECHR

The Human Rights Association “Agora” filed a complaint about the conclusion and maintenance of the person involved in the “Swamp case” by Alexei Gaskarov to the European Court of Human Rights. It is reported by Gazeta.ru.

According to Gaskarov and his representative, the lawyer of Agora, Alexei Glukhov, the Russian judicial authorities violated the article of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in relation to the arrested. In particular, the defense considers the arrest of Gaskarov and his extension unreasonable. The complaint also refers to a violation of the right to an urgent consideration by the court of the validity of the detention.

It is reported that in total, 12 complaints were sent to the ECHR on the pursuit of the defendants in the “swamp business”.

The procession in Yakimanka and a rally agreed with the authorities on Bolotnaya Square on May 6, 2012 ended with clashes with the police. Dozens of people on both sides were injured, more than 400 demonstrators were detained. The Investigative Committee initiated the case of "riots."
