Nobel Prize was awarded Alice Manro

Today, October 10, in Stockholm, the Nobel Prize in the 2013 Literature Prize was held. The reward was received by the Canadian writer Alice Manro.

In the message on the website of the Nobel Prizes, it is called the "master of the modern story."

The writer, who turned 82 this summer, became the laureate of the Buker Prize, three times awarded the highest literary prize of Canada, and the first of them Alice Manro brought her debut book - “The Dance of Happy Shadows” (1968).

Since then, she published 15 stories. Today, Alice Manro has become a 13th woman awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, BBC notes.

British bookmakers put Manro in second place among the favorite of the Nobel Prize, only the chances of the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami were appreciated above.
