The head of the Yaroslavl Oblazbarkom was detained

On Wednesday evening, the head of the regional election commission Denis Vasiliev was detained in the Yaroslavl region. He is suspected of receiving a bribe from a contractor, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the press secretary of the Yaroslavl Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Alexander Shikhanov.

"Vasiliev, having the organizational and administrative functions of mastering budget funds allocated to the election campaign in the Yaroslavl region, put forward the terms of one of the companies that the company is obliged to pay him a compensation in the amount of 5 million rubles. Upon receipt of part of this money - the amount of 2.5 million rubles - Vasiliev was detained," Shikhanov said. According to him, the materials are sent to the investigating authorities to make a procedural decision.

At the same time, according to Kommersant , Vasiliev is suspected of assigning 2.5 million rubles, which were allocated for the needs of the commission. Sources of the publication in the police reported that Vasiliev had withdrawn funds to the accounts of one-day firms. “This (Vasiliev’s detention. - Ed.) Is associated with the current economic activity of the commission. There are large streams - apparently, somewhere in the budget there were inconsistencies,” explained the member of the CIK Denis Panshin, who oversees the region.

Vasiliev headed the Oblazbirk since May 2013. He was recommended by the Association of Russian Lawyers. On September 8, elections were held to the Yaroslavl Regional Duma.
