The defendant in the Lysenko case recantes his previous testimony

One of the defendants in the case of the ex-head of the Engels region Mikhail Lysenko, former director of the Anapa-22 market Sergei Gorshenin, during the hearing renounced most of his previous testimony given during interrogation and confrontations with other defendants. Prosecutor Eduard Lokhov insisted on reading a number of protocols, which in many respects do not correspond to the testimony given by the accused today in court. “I had to speak as it is written here, because I perfectly understood that otherwise I would be immediately arrested. I was afraid that my preventive measure would be changed. Nobody forced me, I myself decided to say what was not true. I only confirm today’s testimony, and I do not confirm earlier data. There is not even 15% truth in them,” explained Mr. Gorshenin. “Was the testimony recorded from your words?” - Mr. Lokhov asked. “I gave them voluntarily. But whoever hears me will understand everything,” said the accused. The contradictions concerned primarily the details of the conflict between the person involved in the case, Yuri Nefedov, and the Engels businessman Alexander Pronin, and specifically the testimony about the forcible capture of Mr. Pronin, about the actions of the other accused - Alibekov, Akhilgov and the wanted Yakovlev. “Did you find the house from where you picked Pronin up and took him to meet Nefedov yourself during the investigation, or did the investigator point it out to you?” — asked lawyer Viktor Parshutkin. “It was a mutual process. They showed me: “This house?” “I agreed,” the accused replied. Sergei Gorshenin also did not agree with the accusation of participating in an organized bandit group: “Someone was carrying weapons, someone was burying them, but they charge me with a ‘gang’.”
