The Sochi Project exhibition will be held in the Sakharov Center instead of the "Winzavod"

The photo exhibition about the Sochi region The Sochi Project will open on October 18 in the Sakharov Center in Moscow and the city theater of Amsterdam. This was reported on the Facebook page. The exhibition is included in the cultural program of the Year of Russia-Holland.

In Amsterdam, the exhibition will be opened by the artistic director of Russia-Golladniya Scheng Schemeen, in Moscow, the chief editor of the united company "Afisha" and "Rambler" Yuri Saprykin. The vernissages will be broadcast on the Lenta.ru website. A video will be installed between Amsterdam and Moscow. The authors of The Sochi Project photographer Rob Hornstra and writer Arnold Van Brugen will turn to visitors to the exhibition in the Sakharov Center.

"We are very glad that critically thinking, independent people in Moscow showed interest in our project, and now our exhibition - even if we planned it - will receive a much wider audience than we could hope," the authors of the project said. They have prepared it since 2009.

On October 10, on the project page it was reported that the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Arts canceled the exhibition . Later, a message appeared on the Winzavod website that the exhibition was canceled due to the fact that one of the authors of the project did not provide the materials necessary for its holding and did not sign the contract.

At the end of September, the Russian authorities refused Hornstera and Van Brugen in entry visas. The photographer became the first from Soviet times a journalist from the Netherlands, who was deprived of accreditation in Russia. Despite all the efforts undertaken by the Embassy of the Netherlands and the organizers of the year of the Russian Holland, after that, Vincuration saboted the organization of the exhibition.

"It seems justified to the conclusion that after the refusal of the visa of Hornstra and Van Brugen, the Winzavod panicked and stopped his support," the report said. The authors deeply regretted the cancellation of the exhibition by the Vincavod. They said then that the exhibition would nevertheless take place, albeit outside of Russia. On October 24, a vernissage will be held in the Antwerp Museum of the Photu photo. And on October 18, at 17:00, when the exhibition was supposed to open at the Vincuration, Hornstra and Van Brugenes planned a “parallel discovery” in the city theater of Amsterdam.
