You read the same books as us. You are not a liberal for a very simple reason. We liberals believe in our values. This may seem stupid, unmodern, even illiberal in some sense to you, but alas.

We, liberals, do not trust the state, for which you once served as a cop, and today you serve as a guardian for a fee. And we, liberals, seeing the state’s default on its social obligations, pay out of our own pockets for all that medicine and social services for which the treasury did not have enough money.”
