Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev dismissed Dmitry Bezdelov from the post of head of the Federal Agency for the Development of the State Border of the Russian Federation at his request, Interfax reports . Yuri Maltsev was appointed acting head of this agency.

Meanwhile, as the agency reports, citing a source in the government apparatus, Bezdelov decided to resign from the post of head of Rosgranitsa after a conversation with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.

“A year ago, a “devastating” board of Rosgranitsa was held, during which the work of the department was assessed by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin. After the event, an inspection of the work of Rosgranitsa as a whole and personally of the head of this department began,” said the agency’s interlocutor.

He also said that during the audit a number of factors were revealed that confirmed the initial data on serious violations that the Deputy Prime Minister announced at the board meeting. He also added that, as a result of the inspection, a document was sent to Dmitry Medvedev, in which Rogozin reported “on all the violations that were revealed.”

The agency's interlocutor said that on Monday morning the Deputy Prime Minister had a conversation with Dmitry Bezdelov, after which he decided to write a letter of resignation of his own free will. The source also noted that the investigation into Bezdelov’s activities will continue.

According to him, supervisory authorities established that 17.3 million rubles were spent on the purchase of furniture for three offices of the central office of Rosgranitsa in 2012. At the same time, only 16.4 million rubles were spent to provide furniture for 104 checkpoints. The agency's interlocutor also noted that the head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia was informed about the violation of the law.
