Representatives of national diaports and religious faiths should become allies of the heads of municipalities in counteracting conflicts on ethnic grounds. According to RIA Novosti, President Vladimir Putin stated this, speaking at a seminar-meeting on domestic policy issues with the heads of municipalities and heads of local administrations.
Putin noted that local authorities should communicate with citizens and know what the city lives. "The norm of your work should be direct communication with citizens. Of course, I understand perfectly and realize that it is impossible to meet the mayor of a large settlement, but in this case this is not necessary. There are many other forms of communication, we must only not forget that they exist and use them," Putin said.
He added that at the same time should be in constant contact with public and volunteer organizations, business associations and provide them with the necessary support, involve social, charitable and educational projects.
“Today, interaction with national diasporas, with representatives of traditional religious denominations, is of particular importance. They should become your allies in countering conflicts on ethnic grounds,” Putin said, adding that in general, all constructive citizens must be involved in the joint work and support various forms of civilian participation.
