On October 27, at 14:00 in Moscow on Pushkinskaya Square, a march will begin in support of prisoners on May 6 and all political prisoners of Russia. Its participants will go along Turgenevskaya boulevards. The action is agreed with the city authorities.
From the appeal of the organizers:
According to the so -called “swamp case”, 12 people appeared before the court and another 15 are under investigation. The defendants in the “Swamp case” are accused under heavy articles of the Criminal Code: “Organization and participation in the riots”, “Violence against representatives of the authorities”, they are threatened with long terms of imprisonment.
The occasion for the initiation of the “swamp business” was the events that occurred on May 6, 2012, when a clash of citizens with police officers occurred during a peaceful protest campaign. We believe that May 6 events occurred, first of all, in connection with unprofessional and even provocative actions of law enforcement agencies and city authorities. However, the investigation and the court are unilateral, accusatory in relation to civilian activists, and the actions of the authorities have not received proper assessment.
The investigation and the court have been going on for almost a year and a half, while most of the defendants in the case without obvious grounds are detained in cramped, smoked cameras. Many of them complain about the deterioration of health, their relatives die, and the trial is of protracted and exhausting character, comparable to torture .
On October 8, one of the "Prisoners of Bolotnaya" Mikhail Kosenko was aimed at compulsory treatment . This decision was made despite the fact that during the trial, not a single witness recognized him. Obviously, the “swamp business” is an instrument of brutal political reprisal against dissenting citizens.
As you know, in December this year, the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Russian Constitution is celebrated. In this regard, the march participants will require the authorities to declare an amnesty regarding all the defendants in the “swamp business”, as well as other political prisoners.
There will be a lot of us - because the decision of the authorities largely depends on the mass of our action. Now we have a real opportunity to free our comrades. To miss such a chance is a crime. We go out!
For yours and our freedom!
Freedom, dignity, resistance!
