Religious organizations of Russia prepare proposals on the concept of a single history textbook

The chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department on the relationship between the Church and Society, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, said on the eve of a press conference in Moscow that the religious organizations of Russia are developing proposals for the concept of a single history textbook, which, in particular, should contribute to a sober assessment of the Soviet period.

According to him, the Russian Orthodox Church is currently studying the concept of a single history textbook. “Religious organizations discussed this topic and are now preparing their proposals, they will be submitted after a while,” ITAR -TASS quotes Chaplin's words.

“The most difficult thing is to evaluate the Soviet period of Russian history, its polar estimates are quite polar in society,” the priest said. During this period, "many crimes that should receive an unambiguous assessment took place: we are talking, first of all, about terrorism, usurpation of power, as well as mass repressions that took place in the first half of the 20th century, Chaplin said.

“We cannot leave these actions without memory,” he emphasized.

At the same time, Chaplin believes that "those who want to name the entire Soviet period are wrong with something gloomy and dark." So, the Great Patriotic War showed the true spiritual power of the Russian people, he noted.

“Russia always remains Russia, even if at some point it manages to captivate the nasty national self -awareness and historical path of our people,” the representative of the Russian Church concluded.

Recall that President Vladimir Putin ordered the creation of history textbooks within the framework of a single concept. All proposals must be made until November 1. At the same time, he demanded that the new materials be written by the "good Russian language" and have no "internal contradictions and double interpretations."

Meanwhile, the draft historical and cultural standard (the document was published on July 1 on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science ), on the basis of which a unified school textbook on the history of Russia should be developed, a flurry of criticism caused . At the "round table", which was held in the State Duma in July this year, historical experts said that the concept contains many "inconsistencies and pitfalls", which are eliminated for July and August, on the time of vacations, as the ministry proposes, "almost impossible." The teachers themselves, whose opinion is interested in the press, are also unhappy: the new standard is only "even more bureaucratic learning," they expressed fear.
