Facebook users again demanded an identity certificate

Facebook apologized to the users for the fact that due to a technical error, some of them had a certificate of personality in order to go to the social network. Earlier, a number of media reported that when trying to go to their accounts, users saw the requirement to provide Government ID (personality certificate) to confirm their data.

As Digit.ru reports, the problem affected several thousand users who complained about her on Twitter. "We showed a message demanding the verification of the account by a small number of users by mistake. We quickly deleted these messages when we found a mistake. We ask for forgiveness for the inconvenience that this delivered," Facebook representative told The Drum . According to the publication, the technical error arose precisely on the Facebook side and was not related to threats for user data safety.

This is not the first such incident - in January of this year, some users Facebook and Instagram were denied access to accounts, for the restoration of which the services also demanded a certificate of personality, writes ARS Technica.

The audience of Facebook is now about 1.2 billion people a month. The rules for using the social network states that Facebook can request user passport data if he suspects that he has not reached 13 years.
