Romanovs, restored by the 400th anniversary of the reign of the Romanovs, the Obelisk of Thinkers in the Alexander Garden caused expert outrage in the inscriptions and images. The Archnadzor public movement in its statement on the page on the VKontakte social network called the work performed "vandalism and ignorance."
Already in the first line in the word "memory" instead of a soft sign is written solid (EP). In addition, the restorers "lost the" letter "omega" in the word "accession", replacing it with "o".
Architect Nikolai Avvakumov, member of the expert-consulting public council at the chief architect of the city of Moscow, the public inspector of the Moscow Authority and MGO VOOPIIK, notes on his blog that the inscription was “font IZHITSA, not particularly bothering at distances between letters”.
In addition, according to him, restorers used the either image of St. George, which, judging by the surviving photographs, was originally on the monument. "Open the obelisk you spoiled, gentlemen, disgrace throughout the country. You deserve this with your fake contests, vanity and dislike for Russia," the architect concludes.
The granite obelisk in the Alexander Garden was established in the summer of 1914 on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov House. In addition to George the Victorious, he was decorated with the emblems of the provinces and regions of Russia, the coat of arms of the boyars of the Romanovs, the names of the kings and emperors from the Romanovs' House, and at the top there was a double -headed eagle. In 1918, the names of nineteen revolutionaries and social thinkers were immortalized in the Lenin Decree "On Monumental Propaganda" on the obelisk.
In the summer of this year, the monument was dismantled and the press secretary of the Presidential Administration Viktor Khrekov said that the obelisk was sent to restoration and return to its place by November 4.
According to Arkhnadzor, work on the restoration of the monument "secretly from the public was carried out by the Asphaltstra company, which did not have an appropriate license. As a result, the true historical monument was lost exclusively for the sake of someone's situation of conjunctional political interests."
