
Data transfer services in Sochi networks in Sochi during the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be provided only by Megaphone, writes Digit.ru with reference to the head of the Sochi-2014 project, Tigran Poghosyan.
According to him, the subscribers of other cellular operators who will move to the Megafon network will be available to voice services and SMS messages, and data transfer services, including 4G networks, can only be used by Megaphone subscribers.
Earlier it was reported that Megafon and Rostelecom in 2009 concluded sponsorship contracts with the Organizing Committee of the Games in Sochi, which imply the costs of operators of $ 130 million each. Operators invested another 100 million dollars in the development of the region’s infrastructure.
Since December 2012, Megaphone has opened inter -grid roaming with other operators who are present in Sochi. In order to connect to the Megafon network, the subscriber on his mobile device needs to select a MegaFon network manually or purchase the operator’s SIM card.
The head of the Sochi-2014 project noted that inter-operation agreements have been concluded with other operators in Sochi, that is, upon transition to the Megafon network, the subscriber of another operator will be served at prices corresponding to his tariff plan in roaming.
Currently, Megafon, 685 base stations of the 2G/3G standard and about 270 base stations 4G, as well as 15 mobile mobile stations have been installed on the territory of Sochi.
