“This year, 9 out of 25 works were included in the short list. The choice of finalists was heavy, since there are many worthy works. I, choosing the finalists, tried to take into account the author’s language and the modernity of topics, and the potential interest of readers, ”said RIA Novosti , a member of the jury, literary critic Andrei Astitzaturov.

- Sergey Belyakov - “Gumilev son of Gumilyov” ;
- Evgeny Vodolazkin - "Lavr. Unhistoric novel ” ;
- Alexander Grigorenko - “Ilget. Three names of fate ”;
- Mikhail Elizarov - “We went out to smoke for 17 years”;
- Andrei Ivanov - “Harbin Motylki”;
- Eduard Kochergin - “Notes of the Tablet Rat”;
- Vladimir Martynov - "Book of Books";
- Margarita Hemlin - “Inquiry officer”;
- Konstantin Charukhin - "Shcheirer".
The winner of the award will be announced in January 2014 at the final debate in Moscow.
The jury of the awards this year includes Konstantin Milchin (chairman), Nikolai Alexandrov, Andrei Avtitsaturov, Galina Yuzefovich and Maxim Krongauz.
The NUC Award has been awarded to the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation since 2010 "to identify and support new trends in modern artistic literature in Russian."
The prize laureate receives 700 thousand rubles, finalists - 40 thousand rubles each. Based on the results of voting on the Internet, a prize of spectator (reader) sympathy in the amount of 200 thousand rubles is awarded.
