Medinsky against "multiculturalist trends"

Today, October 31, at a meeting of the World Russian People’s Cathedral, the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Medinsky, who had opened in Moscow, said that creative search should not be reduced "to the repetition of multiculturalist trends."

Medinsky believes that the next year, announced in Russia by the Year of Culture, makes us think about what the cultural policy of the state should be, reports the Russia-Culture television channel with reference to ITAR-TASS.

“A large healthy family, healthy leisure, free creative work, freedom of thought, self -education and constant spiritual work are those true goals, the achievement of which should be aimed and based on the cultural policy of Russia,” the minister said.

In his opinion, "the goal should be to maintain what leads to the growth of human capital." “That is, the multiplication of the Russian people and all the fraternal peoples inhabiting our country,” Medinsky explained.

At the same time, he noted that it is important for the Ministry of Culture to strive to "not continue to sail to the fairway of other people's ideas, thoughts, mods limp." The head of the Ministry of Culture is convinced that this “reduces a creative search in the theater, literature, architecture, cinema to the repetition of multiculturalist tendencies: holding the next actions, performances, installations”.

Medinsky assured that he would be very attention to the recommendations of participants in the World Russian People’s Cathedral in the formation of the country's cultural policy.

Recently, the Minister of Culture also expressed his point of view on contemporary art.

“Why do modern art we understand exclusively something incomprehensibly cubic, clumsy, up to a pile of brick, which is the installation financed from the state budget?” Medinsky said in the Federation Council at a meeting of the organizing committee of the year of culture, adding that only what most people would not be clear to modern art.
