VKontakte is the only one of the largest RuNet resources that does not deny the employment of former US intelligence officer Edward Snowden. This is evidenced by a survey of companies conducted by the Digit.ru portal .

The portal reported that it interviewed several of Russia's largest Internet companies where Snowden could theoretically get a job. Only the VKontakte network did not unequivocally deny the possibility of hiring Edward Snowden.

“I can’t comment on this information in any way,” VKontakte press secretary Georgy Lobushkin told the portal. “This is the first time I’ve heard of it. If so, then they haven’t informed me yet,” said the network’s technical director Nikolai Durov.

Earlier on Thursday, Anatoly Kucherena, who represents Snowden’s interests in Russia, said that Edward Snowden had gotten a job and would begin supporting a major Russian website from November 1st.

In August of this year, the founder of VKontakte, Pavel Durov, offered Snowden a job related to protecting correspondence on the social network. Earlier this week, he said the former CIA officer never responded to him .

Edward Snowden received temporary asylum in Russia on August 1 of this year. Thanks to information that he previously passed on to the media, it became known about the mass surveillance of Internet users around the world by the US National Security Agency under the pretext of anti-terrorist monitoring. In addition, the agency was engaged in mass wiretapping of telephones. At the same time, it even had access to negotiations between the leaders of major powers, including Germany and Brazil.
