New name: Foresteppe and Speck

On November 2, the Krasnoyarsk Museum Center will host the Russian Electronics Night festival, which will be attended by Echoles (Krasnoyarsk), Ferrein (Novosibirsk), HMOT (Krasnoyarsk), Speck (Novosibirsk), Foresteppe (Berdsk), Naum Blik (Yekaterinburg), “The largest simple number” (St. Petersburg), NoCow (St. Petersburg) and Mujuice (Moscow). The 21-year-old Yegor Klochikhin's curly hair of the color of fiery copper and piercing blue eyes. He looks as if he had come off the photograph of Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky, a pioneer of color photography, who shot Russian life for Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Fedorovna. The few fellow students of Yegor, who is studying at the History Faculty of Novosibirsk University, but he, a serious young man, is delighted with these sun-saturated with the sun and the color of Russia, which we lost, are known about the Prokudin-Gorsky. He made one of these prints a cover of the No Time To Hurry album of his Forestepe project.

Foresteppe was enrolled in the linap of the festival of new electronic musicians, despite the fact that this music is almost completely man -made. On “ No Time To Hurry” there are an acoustic guitar, piano, metallophone, whistle, melodic, mandolin and percussion, as well as the sounds of natural origin, which Yegor recorded and gripped into transparent and viscous sound collages, evicting golden sleep. Moreover, he also looped in the old fashioned way, cutting a magnetic film. The music of Yegor Klochikhin is inspired by the place where he has grown up and now lives-Berdsk, a hundred thousandth satellite of Novosibirsk, or rather, surrounding it with a Siberian forest-steppe. The historical part of the Berdsk founded in the XVIII century was almost not preserved, a historic student was lamented-it was flooded during the formation of the Ob Sea.

His peer and colleague Nikita Bondarev was born in Berdsk and is in no hurry to leave him - he is not drawn to a big city. On the contrary, he found a job behind the city’s line (“We have an office on a hill near the lake, and around the forest”) and comfortably settled in his house on the border of the private sector of Berdsk. “Our city is quiet, good. But he does not have enough well -groomed, - writes Nikita Bondarev. - I find an outlet outside the city, in the forest. I know in the Berdsk forest beautiful places, and these are my personal places. The road through the forest to the reservoir is especially beautiful. ”

The music of his SPECK project can be called for contrast with an analog Forestepe one hundred percent digital - Bondarev works in the Max/M SP software environment, drawing the confusing schemes of virtual effects and filters - however, he, as well as Klochikhin, uses field notes, inspired by the sound landscape of native nature. In particular, it is attracted by silence in the forest. Speck music is an attempt to recreate something completely elusive in the sound. Something like barely moving air or quietly falling snow.

As a disturbed time, Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky, Yegor and Nikita invented their way of preserving the moments of life, which seem insignificant more than the number of contemporaries. And in vain, because only they are truly valuable.
