Snowden is ready to testify to the German authorities

The temporary asylum in Russia, Edward Snowden, expresses the willingness to meet with representatives of the Federal Republic of Germany for giving testimony about the espionage of the US intelligence services in this country, the German wave reports . Their conversation was devoted to discussing the conditions in which Snowden could testify. In particular, the deputy told the refugee about the possibilities to come to Germany without the risk of being issued to the United States. In the event of his appearance on the territory of Germany, the American authorities have long sent to Berlin in the event of his appearance in the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany.

According to Sedeobel, Snowden expressed a fundamental readiness to communicate with the employees of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Federal Republic of Germany or the parliamentary commission. Such a commission can be created during the Extraordinary Session of the Bundestag on November 18, dedicated to the activities of the US intelligence services in Germany, including the wiretaps of the chancellor’s phone Angel Merkel.

Snowden expressed his readiness to come to Germany, "as soon as he has a legal opportunity for this." However, it is possible that he will give testimony in Moscow. As the Sedebel noted, Snowden during the conversation "made it clear that he knew a lot."

The Government of Germany expressed a fundamental consent to hear Snowden. “If Mr. Snowden wants to tell us something, then we will enjoy it with pleasure,” said German Minister of Internal Affairs Hanss-Peter Friedrich. At the same time, he did not explain in what form such hearings may take place, and whether Snowden should come to Germany for this.

“We will find an opportunity if Mr. Snowden is ready to speak with the German side,” Friedrich noted. “We are grateful, if some information appears, it doesn’t matter, through Mr. Strobel, from a letter or somehow more.”

Earlier, a scandal with wiretaps of the USA special services of the Merkel official telephone broke out. On October 24, Merkel sharply condemned the alleged listening to her phone . “It is unacceptable among friends,” Merkel said in Brussels on the eve of the opening of the EU summit. At the same time, the head of the German government emphasized that we are not personally talking about it, as for all citizens of the country.

According to Chancellor, trust should remain between friends and allies. “Now this trust has to be restored,” Merkel said. She added that joint efforts should be made to improve the data protection system and determine the necessary boundaries of transparency.
