
Dozens of employees of the North Korean Navy died on a sunken ship during the exercises held in mid -October 2013, Sinhua’s Chinese agency reports with reference to the Korea Central Telegraph Agency (CST). Initially, only a few victims were reported.
The agency’s report also notes that earlier the DPRK leader Kim Jong -un visited the grave of soldiers who died during the “fulfillment of their military duties”.

The military who died in October during anti-submarine exercises served in the 790th company of the People’s Army. The accident on the ship occurred near the Vonsan port in the Sea of Japan.
As ABC News notes with reference to the Chosun Ilbo newspaper, the sunken ship was built in the 1960s, so its old age could be the reason for the flooding.
