Awarded the Goncorov Prize

On Monday, November 4, in the Paris restaurant "Druan" the ceremony of the Goncurovsky Prize was held. It was received by the writer and screenwriter Pierre Lemeter for the novel "See Upstairs."

This is the story of the two soldiers of the First World War, who found themselves in the back of peace after returning from the front, RFI reports. According to French journalists, it is impossible to break away from Lemetra’s book: the 600-page romance is full of unexpected turns, humor and well written.

Pierre Lemeter himself (b. 1951), the author of popular detective novels translated into two dozen languages, he described his book as a "gloomy adventure novel, in which there is a place for compassion and generosity."

The Minister of Culture of France, Oreli Filippetti, welcomed the award of the prize by Pierre Lemetra, noting that this is a "fair reward for a tragic canvas dedicated to the First World War."

One of the jury members Bernard Beer, the famous book critic and TV presenter, called Lemetra style "intermittent and very cinematic."

This year, Jean-Philipp Tussen (novel “Naked”), Frederick Verzhe (novel “Arden”) and Karin Tuil (novel “The Invention of our Lives”) claimed this year.
