The Moscow Arbitration Court prematurely terminated the legal protection of the Streamliner trademark in Russia. British American Tobacco (BAT) petitioned for this. The Streamliner logo is now owned by Philip Morris. Company representatives did not attend the court hearing on Friday. BAT's lawyer stated that the defendant has not used the Streamliner brand in Russia for three years. Whereas BAT is going to produce Kent Streamline products, which, if the protection of the disputed mark is not stopped, will be confusingly similar to the Streamliner brand. BAT has been operating in Russia since 1991, and launched its own production in 1994. The company owns the BAT-Yava tobacco factories (Moscow).

Norwegian cod liver will return to its homeland

Rosselkhoznadzor will temporarily limit the import of cod liver and sea pike from Norway from November 18. “This year, imported batches of cod liver and moth from Norway were repeatedly found to have non-compliances with veterinary and sanitary requirements and standards of the Customs Union (CU) and Russia, contamination with Escherichia coli bacteria and contamination with live larvae of helminths of the anisakid family,” the department notes. In addition, 19 violations were identified at the state border, including an attempt to import impersonal products, a discrepancy between the production date of the product and the actual date, and others. In ten such cases, the import of products into Russia was prohibited.

Svyazinvestneftekhim bought Tatspirtprom

OJSC Svyazinvestneftekhim, owned by the government of Tatarstan, became the owner of 100% of the shares of OJSC Tatspirtprom, Svyazinvestneftekhim said in a statement. Earlier, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of the Russian Federation approved the application of Svyazinvestneftekhim to acquire 100% of the shares of Tatspirtprom. Until now, the company's shares belonged to the Ministry of Land and Property Relations of Tatarstan. Tatspirtprom, which is one of the leaders in the Russian alcohol market, unites three distilleries and four distilleries, as well as a winery in Kazan.
