The albums of his Kontext bass project were published on the Immerse Bristol Label Records were awarded Loran Garnier and Mary Ann Hobbs. COLTA . -What is the concept of a mini-album and why such a name?
-Although music is the most abstract of the arts, most likely the concept of this mini-album can be defined as easy insanity during sleep. This is an attempt to convey the atmosphere of smooth anxiety, falling and releasing; a hot night state, semi -child, “raw”, often accompanying withdrawal or illness. I am sure that many, if not everyone, experienced such unpleasant sensations. But, as you know, sleep is the best medicine. Including from dysphoria as the opposite of euphoria. By the way, do not forget that dysphoria is not only a form of a painful-finished mood. In some cases, the dysphoric episode is accompanied by the state of exaltation, causeless enthusiasm, talkativeness and expressing the delirious ideas of greatness. So the release cannot be attributed to very depressive and gloomy works. It is rather visible an attempt by some "atmospheric dribbling."
And another strange moment associated with the name. As soon as I started creating the Kontext project, for some reason I did not want to unleash myself very much from the Dissident 'and and decided to call each new album with the prefix DIS- . Hence the La Dissidence , Dissociate and the actually “Dysphoria” .
The clip for one of the tracks from the album was made from the video of the St. Petersburg Avangard Theater "Morf", shot in Riga in 1998
-Where and how was a mini-album created? What was used in its creation?
- It cannot be said that it was created artificially. This is a livestock object, the compositions to which were specially sprinkled from a huge amount of music that I write. As a result, such a story turned out. And everything was created, as usual, alone, in a home studio using noise and creaks of imaginary reality.
© kontext- How does the new release differ from the previous ones?
-Let's just say: in La Dissidence I flirted with abstract hip-hop and downtempo. The sound “Dissociate” is more gravitated to various BASS and IDM , but “Dysphoria” is probably the most techno -oriented release from all previous ones. Even a dub-technical or post-vehicle (there is still such a term).
