Picket in Moscow in support of the accused in the "swamp case"
Relatives of the accused in the "Swamp case" filed an open letter to Vladimir Putin with a request to intervene in the process
Relatives of the accused in the case of riots on May 6, 2012 filed an open letter to Vladimir Putin with a request to intervene and free their loved ones. On November 13, in the Nikulinsky court of Moscow, the interrogation of witnesses of the prosecution continued. According to lawyers, the process goes to the final stage - representatives of the prosecutor's office finish providing evidence.
Relatives of the defendants in the "swamp business" write that they got acquainted with publicly available sources with amnesty projects and did not even find in them a hint of the possible liberation of their loved ones.
“To us, ordinary citizens: parents, wives, husbands, children - not cope with this situation of struggle with the whole state machine in the person of our justice,” the collective letter says. “But we cannot silently observe how our close people die. We ask you as a person and father - first of all, and as a guarantor of the Constitution of the Russian Federation to intervene in the process, restore justice and legitimacy, to free our relatives from punishment from punishment from punishment from punishment For acts that they did not commit. "
The authors of the letter also resemble the conditions under the trial - the defendants are taken out of the investigative insulators early in the morning, brought back after midnight - and so three, or even four times a week. The health of both the defendants themselves and their loved ones worsen.
Meetings in the Nikulin court continue. On November 13, the process participants interrogated the victim of an employee Vladimir Filippov. During the events of May 6 in Bolotnaya Square, as he claims, pieces of asphalt fell into his head, and a yellow object in his shoulder. The indictment states that the “yellow spherical shape” was thrown at the police defendant Yaroslav Belousov, who does not admit guilt. Witness Filippov claims Belousov from a photograph on the Internet. In connection with the contradictions in the testimony of the witness, lawyers filed a motion to announce the interrogation protocols that took place at the investigation stage. The court did not satisfy the petition.
“To us, ordinary citizens: parents, wives, husbands, children - not to cope with this situation of struggle with the entire state machine in the person of our justice. But we cannot silently observe how our close people die. We ask you as a person and father - first of all, and as a guarantor of the Constitution of the Russian Federation to intervene in the process, restore justice and legitimacy, to free our relatives from punishment for deeds that they have not committed.
Another witness who came to the court on November 13, an employee of the criminal investigation department, Danila Pankin, claims that he saw how the participants in the action in Bolotnaya Square turned the toilet cabins, while he did not see damaged booths. As the witness himself claims, in Bolotnaya Square he was about 10 minutes. At the investigation stage, Pankin identified the defendant Leonid Kovyazin, who, according to the case file, is accused of turning the toilet boines. Kovyazin also does not admit guilt. At the request of the defense to announce earlier these testimonies of the witness, the court also refused.
At previous meetings, representatives of Eco Universal came to the court, which delivered toilet cabins to last year's opposition action. Representatives of the Moscow Internal Affairs Directorate of Moscow also performed in court. And those and others are recognized as victims in the case. According to the investigation, during the events of May 6, property belonging to both the Eco Universal and the police were damaged. Representatives of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate previously stated that they refuse a civil lawsuit against the defendants. Lawyer Sergei Badamshin , representing the interests of one of the defendants - Maria Baronova, believes that the appearance of these victims in the court indicates that the prosecution is finishing the evidence:
- Most witnesses and victims on our client have already been summoned to court. Those witnesses who have some kind of binding to them are already exhausted. Now the most "tidbits" victims - on the closets, the Moscow Central Internal Affairs Directorate of Moscow. This indicates that the stage of the process at which the accusation represents its witnesses and victims is close to the end. In the future, the state prosecution will announce the documents, then our turn. The state prosecution, if it wants, of course, can successfully delay this process, providing witnesses and victims who speak in general, and not about specific defendants.
In total, in the case of the events of May 6, 77 people were recognized as victims, more than two dozen were already interrogated in court.
On November 13, near the court building, at the University metro station, the Activists of the Committee on May 6 organized a picket agreed with the authorities in support of the "Prisoners of Bolotnaya". According to activists, the collection of signatures continues to declare an amnesty in relation to the defendants of this case and in relation to those whom human rights activists consider political prisoners.
The oppositionist Alexei Navalny joined the campaign in support of the accused in the swamp case. The Corruption Foundation, which Navalny heads, launched an Internet service called "Decide who should sit." It allows you to compare the punishments that threaten the defendants of the "swamp business" with punishments, to which officials or law enforcement officers were sentenced. Whether the activity of Alexei Navalny will affect the fate of the accused in the case of the riots on May 6, the president of the Institute of National Strategy, political scientist Mikhail Remizov does not take to evaluate, but it reminds that the authorities do not like to act under the pressure of their opponents:
- Navalny opposition often reproached for insufficient activity of the release of the accused in the "swamp case". Obviously, now it is more actively involved in the topic, because this is a reputation problem: those who called for a freedom to go free, those who went to it are in prison. In order to get out of this morally ambiguous situation, it is necessary, at least, to show some political activity. Will it really contribute to solving the problem? Unfortunately, we know that there is such an effect: the authorities do not like to act under the pressure of their political opponents. This must be borne in mind.
According to Mikhail Remizov, in this situation the option with the declaration of an amnesty defendants in the "swamp business" looks the most rational for the authorities:
- The authorities would be more profitable to show complacency. The idea of an amnesty in the “swamp business”, which spoke out at the Valdai forum representatives of the protest environment in the dialogue with the president, looks quite sound and appropriate. It allows, on the one hand, to maintain a face to those who express their official position if there are accusatory sentences, on the other hand, to avoid a negative effect and obvious injustice that will arise if people receive deadlines. Most likely, the qualifications of "swamp" unrest as a mass unrest are exaggerated, the legal component in relation to those people who are now under investigation, at least controversial. Although, of course, in each case you need to look separately. However, from the point of view of the political diet, it is obvious that it is beneficial to show generosity, because these people did not pose a serious public threat, ”says political scientist Mikhail Remizov.
In total, 27 people were held accountable for events on Bolotnaya Square on May 6, 2012. Two of them have already been convicted, there is a trial over twelve. One of the defendants Sergei Krivov is already starving for the 56th day , protesting against violation of his rights to defense. He drinks only water and sweet tea. On November 13, it became known that the protection of Krivov turned to the hotline of the Russian Ministry of Health with a request to conduct his comprehensive medical examination. According to the lawyer Krivov Vyacheslav Makarov, while doctors are limited only to a superficial examination before the delivery of his client to the court.
