In Nicosia, the former president of the Republic of Cyprus, an influential conservative politician Glafcos Cleardis, died. He was 94 years old.
According to his attending physician, the clergy died in the clinic from complications of age -related diseases.
He led the country two presidential terms-from 1993 to 2003 and advocated the accession of Cyprus to the European Union.
Glafcos Cleardis was one of the last European leaders - veterans of World War II.
