Once again about selective justice

On November 15, it became known that ex-Minister of Defense Anatoly Serdyukov was appointed head of the Federal Research and Testing Center for Mechanical Engineering. At the same time, one of the defendants in the Oboronservis case, who refused to testify against Serdyukov, has cancer. And the court refused to change her measure of restraint.

Information about the new appointment of Serdyukov was perceived by many as a mockery: the loudly declared fight against corruption in the ruling elite ended in zilch.

A year after the search in the apartment of the former head of the property department of the Ministry of Defense Yevgenia Vasilyeva, the door to which the then minister Serdyukov opened for investigators, some conclusions can be drawn.

Those defendants who agreed to cooperate with the investigation were released on bail. Those who refused to testify against their superiors and did not admit their guilt remained in prison.

It is known that all the accused were required to give at least some evidence against Serdyukov. Were they going to transfer the former minister from witnesses to accused? Hardly. Rather, they were simply looking for new "arguments" for negotiations. In any case, it is not known that anyone testified against him.

But it is known that the investigators persuaded the accountant of JSC "Slavyanka" Yulia Rotanova to tell how she allegedly transferred millions of rubles to Serdyukov. The accountant did not say anything of the kind, although if she agreed, then, like Vasilyeva, she could study the materials of her case at home, and not at Lefortovo.

Last Wednesday, the Moscow City Court extended Rotanova's detention for another three months, until February 15, 2014. She has been in prison for a year. The lawyer asked to change Rotanova's preventive measure so that she could be treated.

The court, as always, was inexorable: "The presence of the above diseases in itself is not an unconditional basis for changing the accused measure of restraint to a milder one than detention." I immediately remembered Evgenia Vasilyeva, who, under the terms of house arrest, has the right to leave the apartment and make purchases in boutiques.

Yulia Rotanova does not even have hot water in Lefortovo, and there is no hope that she will receive a medical examination, which is vital for her, in the near future. Nobody is in a hurry in prison.
