Putin spoke out against xenophobia against gays

Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with leaders of non-parliamentary parties, said that there should be no xenophobia towards homosexuals in Russia, Interfax reports .

"By no principle should we create such xenophobia in society against anyone, including people of non-traditional sexual orientation," the head of state said.

The President added that the issue of the position of homosexuals in Russia gave him a lot of inconvenience.

"You know how much criticism I have heard in my address, but everything that we have done at the government, at the legislative level - all this was related to the restriction of propaganda among minors," Putin said.

Earlier, the president has already made statements that during the Olympic Games in Sochi, all conditions will be created for the comfort of guests, regardless of their sexual orientation.
