Shabalina from the "City without drugs" sentenced to conditional punishment

On November 21, Berezovsky City Court of the Sverdlovsk Region sentenced an employee of the City without drugs Igor Shabalin to two years and four months in prison.

Shabalin is found guilty of illegal deprivation of the liberty of the patients of the rehabilitation center for drug addicts, which resulted in the death of one of them, Tatyana Kazantseva. After the announcement of the sentence, the defendant was released from custody, reports ITAR-TASS.

The accusation required Igor Shabalin for five and a half years of real imprisonment, while the defense insisted on his complete innocence.

“The judge did not flinch. They conventionally gave Igor. I think that they justified,” commented on the verdict on his Facebook page , the founder of the City without drugs, the head of Yekaterinburg, Yevgeny Roizman. Previously, he assumed that the verdict would be accusations: "It was clear that the prosecutor's office had a direct instruction. I believe that the same instructions were and (at) the court."

On the eve of the announcement of the sentence in the high -profile case, Yevgeny Roizman recalled: at the time of the defeat of the female rehabilitation fund, there were more than 50 patients in it.

"Of those who ended up on the street, during the first year, an overdose, from the sepsis and ten people were killed! Almost everyone had children. Another, the daughter of a judge, died three weeks ago. Five sitting. Three - for thefts, two for drug trafficking. Two in the wanted list. The rest continue to inject. But! About twenty people that Igor did not work! There are already families.

It is reported that before the center closing the rehabilitation line was 170 people, and what is happening now with these women is unknown. “Not only do we do their work for these impotent, they are putting us in prison for this,” Roizman summed up.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor's office has already announced the intention to appeal the verdict issued by Igor Shabalin. "The prosecutor’s office does not agree with the verdict, we will appeal for sure. More information will appear later," the press service of the department said. The defense side has not yet decided whether it would file a cassation appeal.

"Left" consider methods of rehabilitation of drug addicts inhuman

On Saturday, November 23, the Left Front plans to hold a rally in Yekaterinburg against drugs and “non -traditional forms” of drug addicts, directed, including against the methods of “city without drugs”.

According to the representatives of the left movement, the contribution of Evgeny Roizman and his associates to the fight against drug addiction "is doubtful, and the methods are unacceptable, because inhuman ones are inhuman." The rally is proposed to be held in the format of the "free microphone", and, according to its results, to adopt a resolution, which will subsequently be transferred to the regional authorities. At the moment, 19 people confirmed their participation on the page of the VKontakte event.

Cases of "City without drugs"

Recall that the process in the case of illegal deprivation of the freedom of patients of the rehabilitation center, headed by an employee of the City without drugs, Igor Shabalin, began in May 2013. Another defendant is the Vice President of the Foundation Yevgeny Malenkin, who is hidden from the investigation and put on the federal wanted list.

According to the investigation, the employees of the center illegally held one of the patients, Tatyana Kazantsev, as a result of which she died of bronchial meningitis, not receiving medical care in time.

Relatives of the deceased drug addict in court stated that they did not blame Shabalin in her death, since Tatyana voluntarily went to the rehabilitation center, and the fund employees did everything to save her. In turn, the investigation relied on the testimony of two other patients who claimed that Kazantsev was beaten, suspecting the simulation of the disease.

In August, the body of the deceased girl was exhumed under the pretext of finding a bomb, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the detection of traces of beatings on the body. However, the protocol of the exhumation confirmed that the cause of death was meningoencephalitis, and there were no traces of beatings.

In total, several criminal cases have been instituted against the city without drugs. In addition to the death of Tatyana Kazantseva, we are talking about the beatings of the patients of the male rehabilitation center, the case of the head of the “city without drugs” in Nizhny Tagil Yegor Bychkov and the restoration of the temple in the banks, which was engaged in rehabilitants of the “city without drugs”.
