The curator "Documents" was selected

The artistic director of the Contemporary Art Exhibition Documenta 14, which will be held in Kassel from June 10 to September 17, 2017, will be the director of the Basel Museum of the Kunsthalla Adam Shimchik.

According to the exhibition website , the decision on its appointment was unanimously made by the supervision council of Documenta , which selected from six candidates.

The justification of the Committee states that Adam Shimchik is working in close cooperation with artists, his projects are characterized by “integrity and thoughtfulness”, and he himself has “insatiable curiosity”, DW reports.

Adam Shimchik (b. 1970) is the co -founder and first curator of the Foksal Gallery Foundation in Warsaw (1997-2003), since 2003 he heads the Kunsthalle Museum in Basel, in 2008 he was one of the curators of Berlin Biennale of contemporary art.

The curator has not yet been talking about his plans related to Documenta , citing the fact that he had three more years ahead of the development of the concept of the exhibition.
