
Russian President Putin came to the audience with the Pope Francis almost an hour later than the intended time. It is reported by "Moscow Komsomolets". The Italian Corriere Della Sera publishes a photo report under the heading "Putin arrived (late) for an audience with dad", but the newspaper does not give any details. According to the Kremlin press service, the audience lasted 35 minutes. Russian journalist Andrei Malgin, who lives in Italy, adds that the meeting was supposed to last an hour.
According to Malgin, during Putin’s travel from the airport, traffic was blocked. "Putin’s huge motorcade has now traveled along the highway from Fumichino Airport to the Vatican. There, Pope Francis, Putin, was late for a meeting with dad for 50 minutes in the Vatican Vatican Hall."
According to the Kremlin’s press service, Putin and Francis talked in the Vatican library hall, after which gifts were exchanged. The Russian leader gave Francis the icon of the Vladimir Mother of God, and Pontiff presented Putin Majolik overlooking the Vatican gardens.
