State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Sergei Obukhov said that the communists are outraged by the Louis Vuitton pavilion-suitcase built on Red Square and intend to send a request to law enforcement agencies demanding to understand how the authorities could give permission for this, RIA Novosti reports .

"Red Square has a special status. This is a sacred place of the Russian state. There are symbols that cannot be vulgarized and denigrated, because the future of the state depends on it. It seemed to me that the current government finally understood this, so they stopped talking about reburials, about grave digging,” the deputy said. He called the construction “obscenity” and added that he would not leave it unattended. According to him, deputies of the Communist Party faction will make a request to law enforcement agencies about this.

On Tuesday, a member of the Public Chamber (PP) commission for culture and preservation of historical and cultural heritage, Konstantin Mikhailov, also said that through the PP he would find out for what purposes and by whose order the suitcase pavilion was built on Red Square.

On December 2, the exhibition “The Soul of Wandering” is scheduled to open in a pavilion designed in the form of a chest of the Louis Vuitton fashion house measuring nine meters high and 30 meters long. The company's website says that visitors will be able to see 25 historical chests and 12 video installations created by contemporary artists. The exhibition is expected to last until January 19.
