According to him, the head of the Investigative Committee also ordered copies of documents related to the investigation launched by Russian investigators to be sent to the United States.

In early September 2013, Reuters and NBC presented an investigation into an underground “Internet exchange” for adopted children. Journalists found several cases where American families who decided to abandon their adopted children looked for new parents for them on the Internet, after which they simply handed over the children by drawing up a power of attorney. Among other things, the agency told the story of Anna Barnes, who at the age of 7 was taken by a foster family to Texas and later, at the age of 13, ended up with a new family where she was sexually abused. Reuters also reported on 27-year-old Inga Whatcott, who had multiple foster parents and said she was sexually abused and harassed by foster family members and a therapist. In addition, the investigation cited 20-year-old Dmitry Stewart, who reported that his foster mother did not take him to school and gave him cigarettes.

Bastrykin asked the United States to check violations of the rights of adopted Russians
