"We condemn the beating of peaceful Protestants on the Maidan of Independence in Kyiv. The use of brutal force is unacceptable," the politician wrote.

Earlier, violence on Independence Maidan was condemned in the United States. "We urge the Government of Ukraine to respect the rights of civil society and the principles of freedom of speech and freedom of assembly, which are fundamental for democratic values and the cornerstone of our strategic partnership," the US Embassy said in Ukraine.
The day before, the participants of the Euromaidan demanded the resignation of President Viktor Yanukovych. "The President, the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers were unable to ensure the implementation of the strategic geopolitical course in the development of the state," the rally resolution , published in Ukrainian Pravda, said.
Protesters decided to form the Coordinating Council of Euromaidan from among famous experts, public activists, leaders of student organizations and representatives of parliamentary opposition parties, "to ensure a dialogue between Ukrainian civil society and the European community."
