“From the first second, as I was appointed, Boris Yakovlevich [Eifman] called me first and congratulated me on it. I turned to Aifman with a proposal that he and his teachers help us as often as possible, ”Tsiscaridze told at the opening today, December 2, the International Cultural Forum in St. Petersburg, RIA Novosti reports.
Tsiscaridze was appointed acting Rector of the Academy of Russian Ballet in late October. Teachers of the Academy did not agree with this decision of the Ministry of Culture, demanding the abolition of the appointment of Tsiscaridze. The election date of the rector of the Vaganov Academy has not yet been scheduled.
Boris Eifman is a Russian dancer and choreographer, author of more than 40 productions, laureate of the Golden Sophote and Golden Mask. In September 2013, the Dance Academy of Boris Eifman opened in St. Petersburg.
In early November, Aifman commented on the situation in Vaganovka, spreading the text prepared by him to speak at the Presidential Council for Culture and Art. It calls a crisis position with the preparation of choreographers of ballet artists in Russia, and also refers to the need to create a commission at the Ministry of Culture, "which would analyze the alarming situation in the domestic ballet and developed a set of measures to overcome it."
