“On December 2, 2013, Sinai submitted a departure application through the personnel department. After a conversation with him, I decided to satisfy his request. Since December 3, 2013, Vasily Serafimovich Sinai has not been working at the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, ”the Bolshoi General Director Vladimir Urin told RIA Novosti .
He regretted that Sinai made such a decision in the middle of the season, in fact, two weeks before the premiere of the opera Verdi Don Carlos, where he was the musical director of the production and conductor.
“The further creative plans of the theater were also connected with him. Nevertheless, he is a free person and has the right to make decisions, ”added Urin.
Vasily Sinai (b. 1947) worked as an assistant by Kirill Kondrashin in the orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic, the artistic director and chief conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra of the Latvian USSR, the chief conductor of the USSR Small Symphony Orchestra, the artistic director and chief conductor of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the main conductor of the national Latvian orchestra and chief invited conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Netherlands.
In 1995, the Sinai became the main invited conductor of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, in 2000-2002 he was the artistic director and chief conductor of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Russian Federation (former Evgeny Svetlanov Orchestra).
In September 2010, Vasily Sinai became the chief conductor - the musical director of the Bolshoi Theater. In October this year, he made an offer to become a member of the competition for the position of conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg.
