In Yerevan, the police detain activists for protests against Armenia entering the Customs Union, Gazeta.ru reports . The police confirmed the detention of 11 people. On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives in Yerevan on a state visit at the invitation of his Armenian colleague Serge Sargsyan.

The procession was planned to be held along the route North Prospekt - Square of the Republic - Amiryan Street - Mashtotsa Avenue - Bagramyan Avenue - the residence of the President of Armenia, reports Armeniatuday. However, police officers blocked North Prospekt and did not let the participants in the action to the square of the republic.

Then the participants in the action gathered in front of the government building, stunned by police officers. One of the participants in the action read out a letter that is supposed to be transferred to the government. In particular, the document says that today Armenia and the Armenian people are facing the threat of loss of development and democracy in connection with the entry into the vehicle.

The participants of the action chant “Serzhik go!”, “Putin go!”, “Euro Armenia”, “Independent Armenia”, “Armen join”, “We are the masters of our country”. They hold in their hands the flags of Armenia and Ukraine, posters with the inscriptions "Stop-Russia!".

Putin must arrive in Yerevan in the afternoon. He began his visit by visiting the 102nd Russian military base stationed in Gyumri. Putin will also take part in the Third Armenian-Russian Interregional Economic Forum.

The result of the visit of Vladimir Putin to Yerevan on December 2 may be the signing of the Road Map on the integration of Armenia into the Eurasian Union. Preliminary agreements on this were reached during the visit of Sargsyan to Moscow on September 3.

On November 29, at the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius, the European Union and Armenia accepted a joint statement. It noted that the European Union and Armenia maintain close ties and again confirm their commitment to further development and strengthening comprehensive cooperation. The parties expressed commitment to further cooperation aimed at constant improvement of democratic institutions and the judicial system, encouraging human rights and the rule of law, proper management, combat corruption, strengthening civil society, expanding trade and investment.

It was previously planned that Yerevan at the Eastern Partnership summit will sign the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Zone with the EU. However, according to the results of the negotiations of Putin and Sargsyan, Armenia changed the course.
