Putin imposed sanctions against the DPRK

Russia has joined sanctions against the DPRK imposed in March by decision of the UN Security Council. The corresponding decree of President Vladimir Putin was published on the official portal of legal information.

Now, Russian enterprises are forbidden to provide North Korea with any technical and advisory assistance in matters of developing and manufacturing ballistic missiles. In addition, the DPRK marine vessels for entering the Russian ports will have to take inspection. Also, representatives of the authorities are ordered to show vigilance when working with North Korean diplomats.

The UN Security Council resolution of March 7 in relation to the DPRK in connection with the nuclear program of this country is already the fourth in a row . It allows, in particular, to inspect diplomats in search of large amounts of cash. The document also obliges the UN members to prevent the creation of mixed financial companies and the opening of representative offices of North Korean banks. It is prescribed to block banking transactions and control the air and sea routes in case of suspicion that they are aimed at developing the nuclear and missile programs of Pyongyang.

The resolution expanded the lists of persons and organizations falling under sanctions. Also, the UN Security Council forbade the supply of luxury items to North Korea, including yachts and racing cars.

The North Korean authorities rejected the resolution of the Security Council. "The DPRK, as before, condemns with indignation and completely rejects the resolution with sanctions against the DPRK - the product of the US hostile policy towards it. The world will clearly see how hard the DPRK will defend as a nuclear power and as a country that launched an artificial satellite," the country's Foreign Ministry said.
