A laboratory stand is a set of equipment intended for experimental study of physical phenomena and technical parameters of objects.
Depending on the generation, a laboratory stand can be classified as one of the following types:
1. Specialized laboratory stand (1st generation)
Designed for the study of one object, which ensures the minimum cost of the stand.
Significant disadvantages: organizing a front-facing lesson requires many stands and a large area of the room.
2. Universal laboratory stand (2nd generation)
Its difference from the first one is that it is intended for studying a group of objects.
Contains the invariant part common to objects (signal sources, power supplies, measuring instruments, etc.) and special equipment for the object. The 2nd generation stands use universal measuring instruments and improved controls (semiconductor regulators, semi-automatic actuators, etc.).
Its advantages are a reduction in the number of required stands and space; it is easier to work in a frontal manner, since the same replaceable objects can be placed on all stands.
Disadvantages - the equipment is complicated and not cheap, increasing operating costs.
3. Automated (3rd generation)
This stand is an automated workstation that contains a computer connected to an interface device with the object. No measuring instruments are needed. They were replaced by sensors connected to an interface device. The functions of the experimenter moved from the area of direct control of the object under study to the area of operator functions.
Advantages: reduction of current operations and more efficient use of time (for solving creative problems). Disadvantages - inefficient use of the computer. Connecting a computer to each stand is an expensive proposition, given that the annual utilization rate of such equipment is low.
4. Laboratory stand with remote collective access (4th generation)
This is an attempt to overcome the main disadvantage of the 3rd generation laboratory bench while maintaining its advantages. The computer is assigned additional server tasks with remote access. It becomes possible for many experimenters to access one stand without distance restrictions.
