How Euromaidan awarded Dmitry Kiselev. Twice

Euromaidan is a purely peaceful revolution. But she already has four victims, all with fatal consequences. Firstly, the New Year tree, which Prime Minister Azarov spoke about with such pain. Secondly, the idol of V.I. Lenin, over the destruction of which Dmitry Kiselev shed a tear. Thirdly, the Russian Book Chamber, the remains of which are transferred, perhaps for storage, and perhaps for burial, to the ITAR-TASS agency. Well, the main victim of the Ukrainian revolution today is the RIA Novosti agency, on the ruins of which, together with the ruins of the Voice of Russia, the international news agency Russia Today will be created. Dmitry Kiselev was appointed general director of the new megaholding.

In accordance with Putin’s Decree, the main direction of “Russia Today” will be “coverage abroad of the state policy of the Russian Federation and public life in the Russian Federation,” that is, the new media holding will be completely focused on external propaganda. The choice of the head of the holding is also connected with this. Dmitry Kiselev today is the most high-status Russian propagandist. Moreover, a propagandist in its pure, distilled form, without any journalistic inclusions and other inappropriate excesses, such as intellectual reflections, conscience and similar nonsense. This is a very integral and organic machine for producing lies. “Russia Today” will be constructed using these patterns.

Euromaidan was a shock for the Russian authorities. Suddenly it turned out that people live in a neighboring country, many of whom, and perhaps the majority, gravitate more towards Europe than towards Russia. From Putin's point of view, there can only be two reasons for such a choice: money and propaganda. The possibility of other reasons, for example, the attractiveness of European and the unattractiveness of today's Russian values ​​and way of life, does not fit into the professionally deformed picture of the world of our president. Since more people support European integration than the Customs Union, it means we are losing the information war. This means that we need to forge a new powerful information weapon.

The decision to liquidate RIA Novosti and create a propaganda monster with Kiselev at its head is a harmful, stupid and ineffective decision. The harm is that, despite the fact that RIA Novosti was integrated into the state propaganda machine, they also produced information. The agency included RIA Nauka, the economic information agency PRIME, the Russian legal and judicial information agency RAPSI, and the Moscow News publishing house. Will all this be able to work under Kiselev? I doubt. The stupidity and ineffectiveness of this decision is that the type of propaganda that Dmitry Kiselev can produce is effective only under conditions of a monopoly on information. So he says that there were up to 40 thousand people at Euromaidan and they all came for American money, and people believe him, because there are the same lies on other federal channels. What if there is a normal broadcast on another channel with the same audience coverage? Goebbels' or Kiselev's lies can only exist under conditions of censorship. The arena of the information war for Putin is, first of all, countries where there is no censorship. Therefore, the latest information weapon called “Russia Today” will not work here.

This solution is also very funny. It turns out that Euromaidan awarded Dmitry Kiselev twice with an interval of one day. And for the same thing - for deceit. The first time, through the hands of Ukrainian journalist Viktor Sedyuk, he presented him with an Oscar for lies and nonsense in his coverage of Euromaidan. The second time, through the hands of Vladimir Putin, he was appointed head of the largest media holding. Well, it really is funny!
