State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Lysakov won a lawsuit against the Russian branch of Transparency International for the protection of honor and dignity. RAPSI reported this on December 9.

Lysakov asked the organization to refute information that its income did not correspond to its expenses. The Tagansky court decided to pay the deputy 50 thousand rubles in compensation. The defendants in the lawsuit were also the Vedomosti newspaper and Forbes magazine, which published the Transparency International study, and were ordered to pay Lysakov a total of 100 thousand rubles.

All defendants were also required to publish a refutation of information discrediting Lysakov within ten days from the date the court decision entered into legal force.

In his lawsuit, the parliamentarian demanded not only to refute the untrue information, but also to recover nine million rubles from the defendants - this amount of income, according to Transparency International, the deputy did not properly declare.

The human rights organization’s report “Questions to Deputies - 2013” stated that Lysakov could not use his salary to purchase an apartment worth 5.9 million rubles, registered to his second wife, and a Toyota Crown Majesta car, which Transparency International experts valued at three million rubles .

Vyacheslav Lysakov, for his part, noted that the apartment did not appear in his previous property declarations, since his wife purchased the property before the wedding. He valued his 1995 car at 250 thousand rubles and indicated that he had been using it for a long time, but only recently transferred it to himself.

The head of the Russian Transparency International, Elena Panfilova, in response to Lysakov’s statement, noted that the report reflected only the possible value of the property. The origin of the property, according to Panfilova, no longer needs explanation.
