Lukashenko did not decide on the participation in the 2015 presidential election

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has not yet decided on the participation in the next presidential election that will be held in the country in 2015. This was reported by the BelTA State Agency.

“I have already eaten the presidency, for that matter. And people will be elected or will not chosen me - believe me, it will depend not only on you. If I still participate in these presidential elections. It is only the Lord knows, they still need to survive. The person walks, and stops walking tomorrow. Therefore, everything can be,” said Lukashenko. He noted that recently he was “starting to throw questions with the elections” and called not to speculate on this topic.

The president demanded from the government and vertical power of conscientious work and the fulfillment of his functions. “I was tired of rushing from side to side, from Venezuela to Russia and perform someone's functions,” Lukashenko said. He had in mind the solution of the issues of selling Belarusian goods that have recently accumulated in the warehouses of enterprises.

Lukashenko was elected head of state in 1994, 2001, 2006 and 2010. He is the first and so far the only president of Belarus.

On December 19, 2010, the Belarusian opposition organized a protest in Minsk after the end of the voting in the presidential election, which was the winner of which became the current one. The authorities detained hundreds of participants in the action, including opposition candidates for president.

Most of the detainees during the riots on December 19, 2010 were punished administratively. Several dozen people were prosecuted, including several ex-candidates for president. Many were sentenced to imprisonment. Two citizens of Russia, Ivan Gaponov and Artem Breus, were found guilty and fined.
