Intellectual partner of the projectIsrael, the Palestinian National Administration and Jordan intend to build an 180-kilometer pipeline for the transfer of water from the Red Sea to the dead. The agreement on joint construction was signed on December 9 at the headquarters of the World Bank in Washington.
The pipeline system should go through the Jordanian territory. Additionally, a decreasing plant and hydroelectric power station will be built on the path of water. They will supply electricity and fresh water by the participants in the agreement.
The water intake station will be built in the Akaba Gulf . Water will swing to the highest point located between the seas, and then by gravity will be delivered to the dead sea. The height difference of 650 meters allows you to build a hydroelectric power station, which will partially feed decreasing units.
According to the 9th channel, the project cost is estimated at 250-400 million US dollars. Construction should take three years. In 2014, an international tender for work will be announced.
The construction of the pipeline was planned back in 2005, but then the project was not implemented.
