year 2012. Obama signed the Magnitsky Act

A year ago, on December 14, 2012, US President Barack Obama signed the Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act. The law imposes sanctions on persons responsible for violating human rights and the rule of law. The "Magnitsky List" was published on April 12, 2013. It included 18 people.

It is expected that already in December "Magnitsky's list" will be expanded.

This week, the European Parliament voted for the introduction of the "Magnitsky list" for the EU countries .

Russia responded to the "Magnitsky Act" by imposing a ban on the adoption of children by Americans .
