Yanukovych is trying to agree with the opposition

In Kyiv, almost all civil activists detained on December 1 were released from custody. But criminal cases were not closed against them

On the evening of December 13, representatives of the public, the leaders of three opposition factions, the Prime Minister, as well as the former presidents of Ukraine came to the round table to the president. The opposition again voiced their requirements: the criminal prosecution of those who ordered the euro -Maidan, the resignation of the government, the early elections, the termination of criminal cases against previously detained activists. Yanukovych agreed only with the latter and even announced the possibility of an amnesty. Otherwise, no compromises.

Yanukovych, however, said that he “introduced a moratorium” to use force on the Maidan from law enforcement agencies. Arseniy Yatsenyuk, one of the opposition leaders, then said that he did not believe the president. According to him, the Maidan stripping scenario is being prepared, and they prepare it outside Ukraine. “Their goal is to absorb Ukraine by drawing it into a civil conflict,” the oppositionist emphasized, hinting that “they” are the special services of the Russian Federation.

And the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and political prisoners Yuri Lutsenko announced the authorities of the authorities to arrest the leaders of the opposition: “They (the authorities) are preparing to introduce a state of emergency. To do this, they and their Kremlin puppeteers need blood. ”

The opposition has the grounds for distrust of distrust: for a whole week, tens of thousands of internal troops, fighters of special forces and even ordinary employees of the patrol service service for a whole week. Now they are in the capital, according to estimates, more than 80 thousand.

Waiting for the worst

The protesters on the Maidan are not surprised by the results of the round table. “There is no result. Yanukovych is absolutely inconsistent, does not want to give in a gram. Well, the worse for him, ”says 36-year-old Kiev engineer Vladislav Burulko.

On the round table, Yanukovych unexpectedly said to everyone: the officials responsible for the preparation of the Association with the EU were “not taken into account by the national interests of Ukraine”, and therefore can also be resigned. One way or another, both the power and the opposition are now afraid of the deterioration of the situation: the former are waiting for arrests, the latter - sanctions by Western institutions. Ukrainian media, with reference to their sources, write: US Department of Minister Victoria Nuland held a meeting with Rinat Akhmetov in Kyiv, where he told him directly: there will be demonstrators-there will be personal sanctions against him, President Yanukovych and the influential “promotional” head of the National Security and Defense Council Andrei Klyuyev, on the conscience of which it was like the assault on the Maidan on the night of the 11th. What next? Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov claims that the president will not sign an agreement on Ukraine’s entry into the Customs Union, but Kyiv needs to “remove contradictions” with Moscow. According to the director of the analytical center of Penta Vladimir Fesenko, now a lot will depend on the position of Western partners of Ukraine: “The West wants to play the role of an intermediary in negotiations between the authorities and the opposition, but Yanukovych himself opposes this.” In this situation, the expert is sure, the path of European integration for Ukraine has been closed so far.
