
The UN Security Council adopted a resolution on countering the threat of terrorism, ordering the extension of the work of the executive directorate of the organization's Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) for four years, RIA Novosti reports .
The committee was approved on September 28, 2001 - it is designed to intensify international cooperation in anti-terrorism activities. The mandate of the CPC Executive Directorate as a special political mission was confirmed until December 31, 2017.
The UN Security Council also expressed concern that in the context of globalization, terrorists and their supporters are increasingly using new information and communication technologies to recruit new personnel and spread their ideas.
