A monument to Tchaikovsky was opened in Cairo

The monument to the great Russian composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky is opened on Wednesday evening in Cairo. A bust of the work of the Egyptian sculptor of Osama al-series is installed in the garden of the Egyptian opera, ITAR-TASS reports.

On the stage of this largest theater in the Middle East, in the troupe and in the orchestra of which many Russians and citizens of the CIS work, the ballets "Swan Lake" and "Sleeping Beauty" are regularly placed. The discovery of the sculpture of Peter Tchaikovsky was timed to the 70th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Egypt and Russia.

"The Egyptians have gathered a lot from Russian culture. I can say that they now prefer, for example, to a greater extent Russian literature than the heritage of other countries and peoples. In the next period, we expect to intensify relations in all areas, including art. I expect that culture and art will contribute to the development of relations in other areas between our countries," said the minister present at the discovery of the minister Cultures of Egypt Muhammad Sabir Arab.

One day, with the opening of the Tchaikovsky monument at the Institute of Oriental Studies in Moscow on Wednesday, a monument to the large Egyptian writer Taha Hussein performed by the Usama of As-Serui was solemnly opened. A graduate of the St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin, this Egyptian artist is currently working as an adviser to the culture of the ARA Embassy in the Russian Federation. His works, dedicated to scientists, politicians, representatives of the creative intelligentsia, decorate many world capitals.

Two years ago, a bust of Chekhov’s work of the same sculptor was opened in the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Cairo.
