Today, December 20, the support of the popular Winamp musical player in the 2000s has ceased. In memory of him, a nostalgic section appeared on the Yandex.Music service.
This was reported in the corporate blog "Yandex".
On the page “Remembering Winamp on Yandex.Musik”, a computer desktop with the Windows XP operating system is simulated, on which an audio files window opened.
They are laid out according to folders chronologically-from “music of the 1910s” to “zero music”. In each folder there are hundreds of MP3 files that can be listened to in a player, reminiscent of Winamp in the basic configuration.
In addition, audio files can be sorted by years and genres, view the selection of New Year's songs.
The WinAMP media player has been developed since 1997, since 1999, the American Internet company AOL had the rights to it. At the end of 2009, Winamp had about 70 million users around the world. In November 2013, AOL announced that it refuses the WinAMP project, the development of the media player will be stopped, and on December 20 Winamp.com will become inaccessible.
