NATO began negotiations with Afghanistan on the status of forces

The North Atlantic Alliance and the Afghan government proceed to negotiations on the Convention on the status of NATO forces in this country, the general secretary of the organization Anders FOR Rasmussen said on Saturday in Brussels. The Convention must determine the legal framework for the mission after 2014.

"I welcome these negotiations today as part of a meeting between the senior civil representative of NATO Moritz Yohehemosm Moritz and the Afghan National Security Council Ranzhin Dadfar Spinta. At the same time, I would like to emphasize that the NATO Convention will not be approved or signed before signing an agreement on the STUNITY Security between the Afghan government and the US North Atlantic Alliance.

According to Interfax , FEG Rasmussen noted that the document on the status of NATO forces is a “fundamental component of the legal framework necessary for the deployment of the“ decisive support ”mission, which the Alliance will undertake after 2014 to study, consultation and assistance to the Afghan Forces of National Security, as this was agreed with the Afghan government at the Summit in 2012.”
