The American edition of The Huffington Post will launch a separate World Post portal dedicated to international events. Among the authors of blogs on the site will be world leaders and major businessmen, The Guardian reports.

World Post will publish blogs by the Dalai Lama, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, former Brazilian President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, architect Frank Gehry, SpaceX founder Elon Musk, writer Orhan Pamuk and others. Ordinary users will also be able to leave their entries on the site.

The World Post website will be launched at the World Economic Forum in Davos, which begins on January 22. According to The Financial Times, the debut material on the portal will be an interview with Chinese President Xi Jinping. In addition, the site will feature video conversations with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former Greek Prime Minister Georgios Papandreou.

World Post shares will be divided equally between AOL, which owns The Huffington Post, and billionaire Nicolas Berggruen's Management Institute. The editor-in-chief of the new site will be one of the institute's advisors, Nathan Gardels. The editorial board will include Google Chairman Eric Schmidt, eBay founder Pierre Omidyar and former CNN chief Walter Isaacson.

The creators hope that World Post will be a profitable media outlet, but note that this is not their main goal. According to their expectations, soon after the launch the audience of the resource will reach 12 million people. The World Post will exist both as a standalone resource and as an international news page on The Huffington Post's main website.

The Huffington Post was launched by Arianna Huffington in 2005 as a portal combining blogs and news stories. In 2013, the resource's monthly audience exceeded 90 million people. In the last two years, after the acquisition by AOL, the site has developed particularly actively: ten foreign versions were launched, including British, French, Spanish and Japanese. In addition, in the summer of 2012, the publication launched its own Internet television - the HuffPost Live channel.
