Gorodetsky for 13 years stood at the head of this third largest population of the city of Russia. He was elected three times, and his powers expired in March 2014. “Internally, for myself, I did not set the task of going for the fourth term as a mayor, especially since the new tasks facing the city require a fresh look at their decision,” said Gorodetsky, quoted by Interfax quoted.
In the new post, one of the main directions of his work will be a project for the development of the Novosibirsk agglomeration, designed to change the economy of the city and the surrounding territories. "The specialist needs this great job. I suggested that Vladimir Filippovich (Gorodetsky) are in the status of the deputy governor to do this work," said the head of the region Vasily Yurchenko.

I.O. Mayor Vladimir Znatkov will most likely also take part in the elections. “Another candidate is not visible from the current government,” said Vladimir Karpov, secretary of the Novosibirsk regional committee of the Communist Party, vice speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the region.
